Scientific Answers
Researchers (Hatfield & Rapson, 1995) have broken up love into two main types:
Passionate love which involves continuously thinking about the loved one and also involves warm sexual feelings and powerful emotional reactions.
Companionate love is having trusting and tender feelings for someone who is close to you.
Now one of the best known theories of love (which means an educated guess that isn't proven fact) is Robert Sternberg's Triangular Theory of Love.
The three components of the Triangular Theory of Love are:
Passion, the feeling physically aroused and attracted to someone.
Passion is what makes you feel "in love" and is the feeling most associated with love. It also rises quickly and strongly influences and biases your judgment.
Intimacy, the feeling close and connected to someone (developed through sharing and very good communications over time).
Intimacy is what makes you want to share and offer emotional and material support to each other.
Commitment, pledging to your self and each other to strengthen the feelings of love and to actively maintain the relationship.
Commitment is what makes you want to be serious, have a serious relationship and promise to be there for the other person if things get tough.
Now Sternberg also uses his Triangular Theory of Love to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about love:
Is there love at first sight?
This is when we are overwhelmed by passion, without any intimacy or commitment (both of which take time). Sternberg calls this infatuated love, Because there is not intimacy or commitment, infatuated love is fated to fade away.
Why do some people get married after being in love for a very short time?
This is a combination of passion and commitment, but without any intimacy. Sternberg calls this Hollywood love. This is where two people make a commitment to each other based on their passion. Unless intimacy develops over time, this relationship most likely will end.
Can their be love without sex?
Ah yes, companionate love, where intimacy and commitment are present without any sexual passion.
Why doesn't romantic love last?
Passion and intimacy without commitment is Romantic love. When the passion fades, and the intimacy wanes, the relationship ends.

weird dream
hello... I'm back... well... I had this really weird dream last night. I dreamt that I was back in secondary school!!! Not in Thomson but in ToaPayoh!! hmmmz.... well.. everyone and everything did not change much... but when all of us met... we gave each other a big and warm hug... ain't that sweet.... oh yes... the weird part is that our form teacher was not Mrs Lena Siow.... It was Mr Eric Tan... haha!!
It was kinda funny cos he wasn't the normal Mr Tan we used to see around school... this Mr Tan had steaks of blondish brown hair!!! hmmz.. now that's weird.. haha... then all of us had lessons in the same 5N classroom all of us was in our uniform... I still sat next to Clarabelle.... and I remembered asking Penny why are all of us back in school and in uniform? then she answered: "Well... this is our class reunion so we thought of wearing our old uniform." haha... not a bad idea eh? haha y not one day we come up with a REAL class reunion and the dress code will be our school uniform?? hahaha... ok... maybe I'm nuts so juz ignore me alright? *smilez*
Alright... thou shall continue on about my dream... as I said lessons were as per normal and I could see the usual group of pple... Suzanne...Lisa...Charlene...Jasmine and Janice at one end of the classroom singing t themselves... then the other group Garaldine...Lisi...MayK...Judy at the front corner gossiping oh yar and I heard Anto's laughter... hmmz... *scary* then some quietly sat at their tables dunnoe doing what and as usual... Clara entertained herself by drawing my table and I too scribbled on hers... haha... it was of sooo much fun.... hmmz... maybe I reallie missed school too much liaoz so I'm making such a dream.... but Mr Eric Tan?? our form teacher??? strange.... hahaha.... oh well... guess I shall stop here for now and get back to my notes.... *sighz* so take great care folks!!!

Tired
Good evening peeps... well... I've realised that I haven't really been updating bout my life... well... with all the common tests coming up I did not really had the time so thought of putting up quizzes instead... haha... but I took a day off my books to meet up with my darling!! *beams* Did not see him for the past two days cos he had a test early this morning therefore I got him to stay at home to study.. Well we met up after his test this afternoon to catch the comedy Along came Polly... it was kinda hillarious and it totally put all our problems and worries aside... haha its a good comedy so go catch it yar? *smilez* oh well after the movie it was about 4.30 so we thought of going down to Queenstown cos he was gonna have his final theory at 6.30 and we were not familiar with the place so we decided to go early.. haha.. but who knows the test centre was only behind the MRT station.. hmmz... so we arrived like erm... 2 hrs earlier.... *sianz* so we took a walk around the area... Oh Gawd... that place was freaky... There were very few pple in the neighbourhood and the place was very run down... We were sooo bored therefore we went to the nearby pool centre to play pool... haha... hmmz... thought at last I could win my darling but who knows when that black ball rolled in, the white one followed suite... I wanna join!!!!!!! haha... my friend TianHui has decided to join in with me... Good evening peeps... well... I've realised that I haven't really been updating bout my life... well... with all the common tests coming up I did not really had the time so thought of putting up quizzes instead... haha... but I took a day off my books to meet up with my darling!! *beams* Did not see him for the past two days cos he had a test early this morning therefore I got him to stay at home to study.. Well we met up after his test this afternoon to catch the comedy Along came Polly... it was kinda hillarious and it totally put all our problems and worries aside... haha its a good comedy so go catch it yar? *smilez* oh well after the movie it was about 4.30 so we thought of going down to Queenstown cos he was gonna have his final theory at 6.30 and we were not familiar with the place so we decided to go early.. haha.. but who knows the test centre was only behind the MRT station.. hmmz... so we arrived like erm... 2 hrs earlier.... *sianz* so we took a walk around the area... Oh Gawd... that place was freaky... There were very few pple in the neighbourhood and the place was very run down... We were sooo bored therefore we went to the nearby pool centre to play pool... haha... hmmz... thought at last I could win my darling but who knows when that black ball rolled in, the white one followed suite... juz thoughts...
hey mama.... hahaha... dun this song just makes u wanna get up and shake it... hahaha... hmmmz... sighz.... common tests coming up soon liaoz and I'm still not studying... how? hmmmz... guess I'll hafta pull up my socks... haha... well... last night when I was talking to my darling over the phone.... I thought of smthing which was quite relevant to our everyday lives... and that was speaking or writing in English... The thing that has caught to my attention was that.... Have you ever thought who was the first person to come up with the first English word? How was the language formed? Why was A pronounced as A and not anything else? How is it that everyday new words are formed in the dictionary... Why is it that whenever there is a new word included in the dictionary, people will go... " Hey! I've learnt a new word!" But when we make up words with our own meaning to it they would say... " What word is that? Is it found in the dictionary? Is there really such a word? or sometimes u might even get a response saying... Huh? what's that you've just said... or please use proper english..." I mean... what do u actually mean by proper English? how is it that English could be improper? How is it that the pronounciation of words are formed? These questions has been whirling in my head for quite some time... but so far noone was able to tell me.... haha.... guess I'm alittle looney at the moment cos these are stuff which we don't even hafta worry about... but I'm just trying to get some answers here... well... guess thou shall leave now... haha... have got lotsa catching up to do.... haha~ so take care peeps~ Love ya~ *muacks* *smilez*

Came across this really interesting article in the Today's newspaper and I thought of sharing it...
School means study, not sales quotas
Our children should not be forced to raise funds for their schools

A REVENUE target is set; new products are manufactured and management sets a target for the sales force. Did you fail to sell your quota by the dateline? You get singled out, receive a stern warning and are cautioned not to return until everything is sold. Sounds like a commercial company? Actually, this is a process that goes on in some schools in Singapore, intent on raising money for a variety of purposes.
A case in point: The Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus-Toa Payoh (CHIJ-TP), which has been raising money for its new building. Last year, the school unveiled a new range of products: Calendars and multi-purpose cards. The management (principal and teachers) told its young sales force (students) to "sell everything (and) bring back $48".
When the deadline expired, there were some students who did not meet their target. But some teachers were having none of that. These students were told to go out and keep selling. So the weary young "executives" laboured on, selling as best as they could. Finally, last week, the teachers relented and took back some unsold merchandise.
But in the process, some unhappiness was created in the workforce. "I used my pocket money to pay (for part of the amount)," said 14-year-old Tina (not her real name), who got the rest of the money with the help of her family. "I had no choice. The first time I didn't finish selling, my teacher was so fierce!"
Her schoolmate, Andrea, (not her real name) also had to raid her piggy bank. Still, it was not enough to buy all the calendars and cards given to her. Said the teenager: "Teachers are always unhappy when we don't sell. Even when my teacher took back some of the cards, she seemed very angry that we had not sold everything." Are our children's arms being twisted in schools? No, argued the school's headmistress. "We expect that students put in effort," said Ms Theodora Tan, the CHIJ-TP principal, who revealed that some 200 unsold products were taken back eventually.
But she did add that when the teachers addressed a few students who were not putting in effort, "the message might have been misinterpreted" by the rest. To be fair to the school, CHIJ-TP is not the only educational institution in Singapore asking its students to help raise funds for various projects. That begs the question: Should children be burdened with such tasks?
As clichéd as this may sound, aren't children going to school to learn and not to work? Further, look at the damage being done. If the children don't meet their "sales targets", they are accused of being lazy. If they grumble, they are chastised for not displaying the "school spirit". If they use their own pocket money, they are poorer for the experience.
There is also the question of imparting the wrong values. If the teachers smile at those who can raise money and frown on those who can't, we are teaching the youngsters that to be "good", they have to bring in the cash. These materialistic values could be why so many grow up to adopt the five Cs as their Singapore dream. Also, the schools should realise (if they do not already), that the real people being taxed are the parents.
The parent of a student, Mrs Tan (who declined to be identified further), who paid for her child's unsold portion, felt the pinch. "They (CHIJ-TP) probably imposed it because some students can't be bothered. But it's not fair to all kids and even to us. Not all parents can afford it. Maybe we can buy one, but not all. Certainly not all the time," she said. Added Tina's aunt, Mrs Ng (who also declined to be identified further): "When my kids were in primary school, I kept getting so many of these donation draw tickets. But I cannot confront the school, because my children are afraid they will get into trouble later.
"But I wish the Ministry of Education would do something about this. Why are they so silent even though so many parents have been complaining to the press over the years?" Maybe it is high time we have some rules that mitigate some of these pressures that our children face. Going to school should first be about studying. For our children, there is plenty of time to find work in commercial companies after they graduate. It is then that they should start worrying about "meeting quotas" and bringing home the money.

baddie baddie day
hey hey... I've decided to blog early today cos well.... I'm in school early today... by an hour may I add.... sighz~ boring day it is gonna be today... dun expect anything good to happen today... well... first of all... my darling's not feeling well... so he's not coming to school.... which means that I'll be a loner today... =( He's havin a reallie reallie bad sore throat.... orh... my poor baby darling... haiz~ I'm gonna miss him today.... =( sighz~ there goes my entertainment for the day.... well well.... at least it is not gonna be a very long day.... my lessons are until 4 today.... so maybe I shall go over to take a looksee at him to make sure he gets better.... *smilez* oh yar I had such a weird dream last night.... I dreamt of me talking to my darling over the phone.... (seems sooo real) then he told me that he needed to help his friend do something and it was like 11 plus 12 at night... so I reluctantly agreed to let him go.... the best part was after hanging up.... he later called me again saying that he saw 2 of my friends together.... and he asked me if he could join then and he said he was at macpherson....and it was already 1 plus 2 am.... so i insisted that it was already very late and he should go home or I will worry.... but somehow he kept asking me and begging me to let him go.... so I got mad and somehow jealous.... (I dunnoe y) and I slamed down the phone.... then I woke up.... hmmmz.... strange eh? I wonder what does that dream mean? hmmmz.... I feel like reading up on dreams.... and books to recommend? haha... oh well... I'm lost now.... dunnoe what to blog liaoz.... so shall pen down here... take care pple~

yo yo yo!! hahaha.... what to say hmmmz.... well... went to get my date for mi final theory exam.... let moi see.... this is like the third time I'm taking the test? ahhh.... hahaha.... feeling sooo dumb.... I want my license.... then can drive anywhere I want..... argh~ the best part is.... I was kinda confident that I would pass but I did not!!! ah~ haha... so anyone has any tips for my for my upcoming final theory test? Come what may....Come what may....
Just caught the tv premier of Moulin Rouge.... orh.... such a sweet but sad show.... thought the production was good... hahaha and I'm so envious of my uncle cos he also got a part in that movie.... he was one of the gentlemen in the audience and some other parts of the show... so lucky.... well not only did he get the chance to be a caliafare in that movie... he also had the chance to be in an advertisment... it was one of the navy advertisments if I was not wrong.... cos that day while watching tv... I thought that guy cheering with a beer in his hand was familiar... so when I took a closer look it was actually my uncle there.... hmmz... so that day when he came to Singapore I asked him how did he get so many 'lobangs' haha... and he told me that for the movie... he went for an audition in Australia and he got in... as for the Singapore navy.... cos they had his particulars so they called him up and asked him if he wanted to star in their commercial so he joined them.... lucky him... haha... how nice if my lucj was half as good as his.... then the world will be such a better place to live in... *smilez* well.... back to the movie.... I love the songs that they sang in the movie though most of them were oldies but they still sounded good.... hmmmz.... guess I know what I'm gonna get next on my shopping trip.... heehee... the soundtrack!!! haha... come... thou shall sing it.... The day has come... heehee... just came back from my romantic date with my darling not too long ago... *smilez* Though it was a short date but it was sweet~ heehee.... met him at bout 4 plus in the evening... he came to pick me up from my place... *smilez* then he handed me a bouquet of flowers... heehee... I intend to dry the flowers so that could preserve them....*beams* alrightie... after exchanging prezzies.... he brought me to Suntec's Dome to have dinner... Well.... its a day before Vdae and international friendship day.... soo.... I wish one and all HAPPY INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY!!!!! *muacks* hehheh... *smilez* oooh and also I wish my dearest darling.... Happie vdae!!! =) Love ya dear... heehee... I know I can be kinda annoying at times..... always provoking you.... Thanks for being soo considerate and sweet to me... I lovey lovey u very much.... *smilez* oh.... I wasn't really feeling well today... cos my thingie came.... *sian daoz* then I had really really bad cramps.... Its like I could hardly walk..... but I still survived and managed to go for class... with the help of my darling piggy dear of cos... heehee and my friend YanHao.... my piggy darling was sooo sweet.... he sent me all the way to class then he went for his test... heehee... then in the class.. I asked YanHao if he had a panadol.... he asked me how many do I need so I said 1 will do.... then he ran out of class... so I asked him I thought u had a panadol with u... if u dun then nevermind dun need... but he said now I dun but I will have it later... and true enough... he returned with 2 panadols.... hmmmz... wonder where did those panadols came from... hahaha he's considered a very nice friend.... yoz! haha.. I'm bbbaaaccckkk..... hmmz... did u miss me? *smilez* heehee feeling sleepy at the moment... cos went playin round the school's track till like 7 plus with my darling.... then played a lil of vball with him till 9.... so by the time I reached home was like... ermz... 10 plus at night? hahaha... oooh and I watched the dance sport pple do the cha cha... sooo nice... I wanna join dance sport!!!!! I've always been interested in dancing.... I wanna learn latin dance!!! haha took up dance sport as my sports and wellness module last year.... Its was fun... I learnt cha cha and abit of salsa... heehee.... and my dance partner was Karen.... *smilez* she danced the guy's moves while I did the girl's moves.... loved the twisting and turning parts!! haha.... I could not continue dance sport cos if I wanna join as a CCA... I need a partner... preferably a male... haiz~ then my darling is NOT at all interested in that sport.... so unless I can get a partner or I will not join.... sighz~ but finding a partner oso very difficult..... ok... though he or she does not have to be from school... but.... I dun think my darling would want me to partner another guy right? and besides.... SOOO EXCITING!!!
ooooh know what? I've come to a conclusion... do not blog too early.... got more stuff to type now... hahaha.... after school today... went with my piggy darling on a phone search... cos his plan over liaoz... so wanna get a new plan and phone... heehee.. so we practically combed the whole of Toa Payoh central.... haha then we took a bus down to Bishan to take a look at the phones there... heehee... on the bus, there were 2 IJ gals sitting behind me... hahaha they were complaining about the teachers and so happened that the teacher they were complaining used to be my biology teacher! hahaha... so qiao... they were toking bout how annoying she was... haaha... and as I listened to them complain.... I totally agree with them!!!! I remembered how I complained to my classmates and all last time in sec school and we would always be gossiping bout the teachers! hahaha....hmmz... then when we reached Bishan.... we sat at a corner to have a small talk....and guess who I saw!!! My primary 6 tuition class CRUSH!!!!! hahaha his name's Ruben heehee... now he's in the NS.... hafta blog another time... cos not too long ago.... smthing terrible happened to me... This guy "William" sent me a msg again saying can I be your friend.... This time it was sent to my nite card... so I concluded that it must be someone who gave him my number.... so I got fed up... I called back.... then I said:" hello... who is this may I know who called??" then this guy said in very very poor English..."ah...William... " So I asked him nicely who gave him my number... then he passed the phone to another guy and that guy said:"I william"... disgusted... I said look... all I wanna know is who gave u my number.... he gave me some shitty story that his friend gave it to him and kept askin me how old i was... then i ignored his question and asked...Who is this friend.... he said an IRC friend... Then I said...:" ARE U SURE AN IRC FRIEND GAVE U MY NUMBER??? WHO THE HELL IS THAT GUY... PLS LET ME KNOW...." then he told his friend in chinese... woah zhen mo ban ta shen qi le.... so I said..."btw... may I know how old r u....??" (in a sacarstic tone...) then he said 17.... and i was like... " PLS LOR I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR UR BLOODY ASS SHITTY GAMES...SO U BETTER TELL ME WHO GAVE U MY NUMBER AND FUCK OFF!!" y I'm surprised that he got scared and told me that he actually told me the whole story that he got a second hand phone and saw my numbers in it... so I told him..."ok... then pls stop msging me or dun even call me alrite..." and he just said sorrie sorrie and hung up.... hahaha... I wonder who else kenah besides me.... well all I know is to this kinda pple u gotta be fierce.... well what todo... I wasn't in a really good mood and he had to provoke me... haha.... now come to think bout it I think I was too harsh on that poor boi.... what do u think? was I? ooooh I love this baby.... dun u think she's such a doll??? orh.... sooooo cute..... juz wanna pinch her cheeks.... ooooh qooochy qoochy..... heeee.... come on let boring oh me tell moi day... hahaha... woke up at 10 plus this morningz... actually wanted to sleep longer but my dad told me that we were gonna have visitors soo I had to wake up... so I dragged myself outa bed and washed up... then my aunt and uncle came over... They wanted to take a look at my wonderful newly renovated home... heehee... they were pretty impressed.. hahha... hmmz... maybe I could take a few pics of my house yar? well... later.... my parents and I went to Ikea to get some cupboards and all... hahaha.... okok here are the list of stuff we got... 1 set of shelves for my room to put all my barang barang.... then ermz... a frosted glass shelve for the toilie.... and a set of wardrobe... hahaha... oooh and got some new towels... hahaha.... but still searching for bean bags... one for my room and another 2 more for the living... hahaha anyone has any lobangs as to where I can get cheap and nice bean bags? *smilez* heehee... After shoppin.... went home and I listened to my Sammi Cheng album again... hahaha.. die addicted liaoz... hafta hear her voice everyday... hahaha... okok... then later in the evening... had dinner at my beloved darling... Amelia's house... her maid's really a good cook!!! had curry chicken... vegies and scallop... deep fried big prawns... bee hoon....and many many more.... haha and it was buffet style! haha... after our meal... Angeline...Amelia...Andrea...Trina and I took a walk round her neighbourhood... oooh there was this house... their dog was super big and fierce.... and he also had a super unfriendly face.... we were like sooo totally freaked out by him... haha... later we came to the playground nearby.. we were soo amused by THE SWING!!!! The 5 of us ran for the swing and had a competition who swing the highest... hahaha I know childish... well... missed the childhood days when Angeline, Amanda and I would go to the playground with my grandmama to play the see saw.... ah..... precious memories... those were the days... no troubles~ ok anyway... after playing at the swing I realised that my sec 1 science teacher Mrs Selviam stayed nearby... wanted to ring her door bell but I wonder if she remembers me... so oh well nvm... did not go into her house after all... *smilez* later when we went back into the house... I went upstairs and found that Bryan was hiding in the comp room the whole time gunbounding.... ~sighz~ he's totally missing out the fun! hahaha.... well... then we went into Amelia's room and she tried singing using her diaphram which she kept complaining that she can't use... hahha.... then Trina went downstairs to perform her hula skills to my grandmama.... and they were sooo pleased... heehee... Later at 10++ the sad part came... we had to leave... sighz~ well... so here I am back home typing my bloggy and waiting for a call... *smilez* so sweet dreams pple~ gd nite and bu buaiz~
